The £8 fee kicks in from 6 January 2026.
London City becomes the last major airport to introduce the now ubiquitous charge.
The £8 fee allows a stay of up to five minutes to drop off passengers.
The fee then increases by £1 per minute up to a maximum of 10 minutes.
“This move is part of our commitment to encourage more travel to and from the airport via public and sustainable transport modes, of which two-thirds of our passengers already use,” the airport said.
Blue badge holders are exempt from the charge as are licensed taxis do at least an initial period.
The main public transport option to the airport is the Docklands Light Railway.
