Leeds Bradford new terminal extension unveiled

Terminal Building Leeds Bradford International Airport Geograph 2486139 The long-awaited opening of the passenger terminal extension at Leeds Bradford Airport has arrived.

Passengers arriving on selected flights have started using the new arrival facilities in the extension which includes new baggage reclaim area and border control process.

This is part of an initial trial before Phase 1 fully opens to the public.

The £100m terminal building project is the largest investment made at the airport and boosts overall terminal space by about 40%.

There are also three new boarding gates, more new food and drink outlets and more than 80% more seating.

It was is the ‘first major improvement to this terminal since its opening in 1968 and is long overdue’ said LBA CEO Vincent Hodder

The next stage of work is set to start later this year.

This includes a comprehensive refurbishment of the existing terminal as well as a new security checkpoint area.
