Eurostar eyes direct Frankfurt, Geneva services

Eurostar 2719577 640 Eurostar has announced expansion plans with new rail services linking London to Frankfurt and Geneva

They are subject to receiving new rolling stock so won’t launch until sometime after 2030, it said.

Eurostar will invest about €2 billion for dozens of new trains, significantly expanding its current fleet of 17.

The Rotterdam and Amsterdam service will expand to five departures a day by late 2025.

“We’re seeing strong demand across Europe, with customers wanting to go further by rail than ever before,” said CEO Gwendoline Cazenave.

“Despite the challenging economic climate, Eurostar is growing and has bold ambitions for the future. Our new fleet will make new destinations for customers a reality.”

Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander added: “This is a huge step in promoting green travel across Europe and boosting our international rail connections.”
