The culinary offering at Barceló Rome includes two restaurants and a lounge bar, each presenting Roman traditions through a contemporary lens. Guests can also enjoy the B-LikEat breakfast concept, developed by Barceló Hotel Group around a philosophy of health, sustainability, and locally sourced products. The breakfast experience features organic ingredients, artisanal specialties, and wellness-focused options designed for today’s increasingly health-conscious travellers. Additional amenities include a fitness centre and an outdoor swimming pool.
“We are delighted to celebrate the opening of Barceló Rome, a project that perfectly reflects our vision of contemporary hospitality while highlighting the unique identity of one of the world’s most fascinating destinations,” said José Ramón Álvarez Cervela, Europe Area Director at Barceló Hotel Group.
A Tribute to “The Other Rome”
Barceló Rome draws inspiration from the concept of “The Other Rome,” an approach that celebrates the rationalist and modern architecture that reshaped the city throughout the 20th century. The project reinterprets Rome’s classical monumentality from a contemporary perspective, incorporating materials such as travertine and concrete alongside the geometric lines characteristic of this architectural movement.
The project was entrusted to Rome-based agency Space Planners, while the interior architecture was designed by Milan studio Chiara Caberlon. Developed in close dialogue with its surroundings, the hotel’s design takes inspiration from the Tenuta dell’Acquafredda Nature Reserve and the contemporary energy of Via Aurelia, creating an aesthetic language where nature, history, and modernity intersect.
Through the use of premium materials, carefully crafted lighting effects, and a refined colour palette, the interiors blend contemporary elegance with historical references. The result is an authentically Roman experience interpreted through a modern lens, with a strong emphasis on well-being and sustainability.
One of the project’s most distinctive features is its main staircase, conceived as a striking architectural centre-piece. Its contemporary design, enhanced by the interplay of light and materials, makes it one of the hotel’s most iconic spaces.
A Strategic Address for the MICE Segment
“The opening of Barceló Rome marks an important milestone in strengthening our presence in Italy and consolidating our position within Europe’s leading urban destinations. Looking ahead, we are confident that Barceló Rome will establish itself as one of the city’s leading MICE hotels and as a flagship property for our brand in Italy, offering a distinctive experience that combines design, innovation, and service excellence,” added Álvarez Cervela.
With this opening, Barceló Hotel Group reinforces its commitment to the MICE segment in one of Europe’s most important urban destinations, further strengthening Rome’s role as a strategic location for business tourism and events. Featuring more than 1,400 square meters of event and conference space and eight meeting rooms, Barceló Rome has been designed to host corporate meetings, conferences, and exclusive events in an elegant yet highly functional environment.
Beyond its business facilities and appeal to corporate travellers, Rome offers a wealth of cultural, culinary, and entertainment experiences, along with an extensive selection of museums, exhibitions, and urban attractions that allow visitors to balance professional commitments with leisure time.
